Iraq confirmed its readiness to cooperate with the United Nations Human Settlements Program

BAGHDAD, Iraq has confirmed its readiness to cooperate with the United Nations Human Settlements Program (UN-Habitat).

"The Permanent Representative of Iraq to the United Nations Office at Nairobi, Ambassador Burhan Namiq Al-Jaf met Executive Director of the United Nations Human Settlements Program (UN HABITAT), Mr. Mohamed Sharif at UN HABITAT.

Al-Jaf expressed during the meeting the readiness of Iraq to cooperate with the UN Program for Human Settlements , pointing to the importance of the program support for Iraq's efforts in the reconstruction of areas liberated from the Daesh terrorist gangs that have left many displaced people.

For her part, the UN official said during the meeting, "the readiness of the program to support Iraq in the reconstruction of areas liberated from the gangs of terrorist Daesh, calling for Iraq's support to the United Nations Human Settlements Program."

During the meeting, the two sides discussed the outcomes of the Kuwait Conference for the reconstruction of Iraq and the role of "HABITAT" in this conference. The two sides discussed Iraq's candidacy for the position of Deputy Executive Director of the program.
