Iraq discusses with three Arab countries the signing of a comprehensive agricultural memorandum of understanding

Baghdad The Minister of Agriculture, Mohammed Karim Al-Khafaji, held a meeting today, Tuesday, with his Syrian, Lebanese and Jordanian counterparts, in the presence of the technical representative of the Ministry Mithaq Abdul-Hussein Obaid.

The meeting aims, according to a statement by the Ministry of Agriculture, to conclude understandings leading to the signing of a comprehensive agricultural memorandum of understanding between the four countries in the agricultural fields, both plant and animal.

In the meeting, which was held after the conclusion of the Regional Conference for the Near East and North Africa, which concluded its work in Baghdad today, extensive discussions took place among the Ministers with a view to achieving agricultural integration.

The work of the 36th session of the Regional Conference for the Near East and North Africa, under the auspices of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations “FAO”, was concluded today, Tuesday, in Baghdad, which lasted for two days.

The Minister of Agriculture, Mohammad al-Khafaji, said in a joint press conference with officials of the UN organization: “Iraq asked the UN organization to hold a joint meeting with Turkey and Iran to solve the crises related to water, food security and desertification.”
