Baghdad Minister of Planning Khaled Batal Al-Najm discussed today, Monday, with the Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Maha Ali, the mechanisms for implementing the decisions of the Iraqi-Jordanian-Egyptian tripartite summit, which was held in Baghdad recently, and a number of files of common interest , related to economic, commercial, investment and industrial relations between the two countries.

During the meeting, the Minister of Planning announced that tangible progress had been achieved in many important files, which were approved at the Baghdad summit, explaining the completion of the procedures for establishing the economic zone between the two countries, as well as achieving important steps to complete the tripartite electrical interconnection project, as well as with regard to the extension of the oil pipeline from Basra to the Jordanian port of Aqaba, stressing the importance and role of the private sector in the two countries, especially with regard to investment in the economic zone, calling for more cooperation, exchange of experiences and visits between businessmen, contractors and engineers from both countries, in a way that contributes to supporting development efforts.

For her part, the Jordanian minister affirmed the Kingdom’s keenness and interest in supporting and developing bilateral relations with Iraq, in a way that enhances economic, industrial and investment integration, noting that there are great investment and economic opportunities that the Iraqi and Jordanian private sectors can invest in, stressing that her government has taken important practical steps towards implementing the decisions of the tripartite summit and complete all legal procedures related to the establishment of the joint economic zone.
