Baghdad Iraq received an official invitation from Japan to participate in the Tokyo Olympics, to be held in June of this year.
A statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated, “The Chargé d’Affairs at the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Japan, Dabyan Shamam Al-Zubaidi, received the Japanese Minister of State for Economy, Trade and Industry Ejima Kiyoshi, at the embassy’s headquarters, and received from him a written letter, which included inviting Iraq to actively participate in the Tokyo Olympics, which will start its activities On 6/23/2021.
The statement added, “The message indicated that” Japan will do its utmost to ensure the safety of the athletes participating in the Japanese Olympiad.” pointed out that “the meeting dealt with a number of issues of common interest, including economic relations between the two countries, prospects for joint cooperation in the field of energy, reconstruction, and the role of Japanese companies in this.”
It continued, “The two sides agreed to coordinate jointly to prepare for an economic workshop between the relevant parties in the two friendly countries, through a closed television circuit to discuss economic and investment opportunities in Iraq.”
