Iraq Wins 10 Medals In The Iraqi Int’l And West Asian Table Tennis Championships

The Iraqi table tennis team won 10 medals (two gold, 6 silvers and two bronzes), at the conclusion of the International Iraq and West Asian Championships yesterday.

150 players from 20 countries participated in the tournament, “Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, the Emirates, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, Palestine, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Iran, Taiwan, America, the Czech Republic, India, Pakistan, Belgium and Sweden, in addition to the organizing country, Iraq.”

The Iraqi female team under-15 achieved first place in the West Asian Championship, the Lebanese team came second, and Kuwait ranked third.

In the men’s competitions, Iraq achieved second place under 15 and 19 years old, after losing in the finals (1-3) and (3-0) against Qatar.

Athmar Aqeel achieved the silver medal in the final of the Iraqi International Under-11 Championship, losing to the Iranian Arena Khayyam (3-2).

In the mixed doubles competitions, Iraq was able to win a gold medal, two silver and a bronze medals.

In the Iraq International Championship for men’s singles under 19 years old, Iran won 3 gold medals and two silver medals, Syria won a gold medal, and Jordan and Belgium achieved silver
