BAGHDAD, Iraq, Iraqi President, Barham Salih, will visit Iran on Saturday (today), as part of a regional tour that would also include Saudi Arabia, to boost ties with the two countries, said his office in a statement, Friday.
The statement said that, Salih “is scheduled to meet his Iranian counterpart, Hassan Rouhani, and other Iranian top officials, to discuss bilateral ties and cooperation, as well as, the development in the region.”
Salih will lead a delegation of ministers and advisers, in his tour to the two countries, the statement said.
Salih’s visits to Tehran and Riyadh are part of visits starting on Nov 11, to Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates and Jordan, aimed at boosting Iraq’s relations with the countries of the Middle Eastern region.
The series of Salih’s official regional visits are his first regional visits, since he took office on Oct 2, when the Iraqi parliament elected him as the president of Iraq.
