Baghdad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani met with U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken on Sunday evening to discuss the recent events in Gaza. In a statement from the Prime Minister's Office, the meeting covered the escalating crisis, the humanitarian plight of the Palestinian people, and the need for coordinated efforts to deliver essential aid such as food, water, and medical care.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Sudani reaffirmed Iraq's firm stance against the Zionist aggression on Gaza, emphasizing the urgent need for a ceasefire and the opening of crossings to alleviate the worsening humanitarian disaster. He highlighted the civilian casualties, including women and children, and called on the international community to respond to the daily massacres and the ongoing escalation against the Palestinian people.
Secretary Blinken acknowledged the U.S. commitment to delivering humanitarian aid to Gaza and expressed a desire for continued bilateral coordination with Iraq to support regional and international stability.
