Iraqi Seafarers Celebrate The International Day Of The Seafarers

Basra The Iraqi Seafarers celebrated the International Day of Seafarers, in line with what was approved by the International Maritime Organization and the United Nations, in a gathering organized by the Iraqi Marine Syndicate in Basra in Al-Maqal area.

In a speech at the celebration, the Captain of the Iraqi Seafarers Syndicate, Naval Engineer Basem Muhammad Ali Al-Matwari, said: “This day is a special day that commemorates those heroes who face difficulties in order to secure all food, medical and humanitarian supplies for all humanity, handling between the various ports of the world in defiance of the horrors of the seas and oceans.”

He praised the role of the departments of the national maritime companies operating in Iraq, calling for more work to raise the maritime level to the best sectors.

While a member of the administrative body of the branch of the Journalists Syndicate in Basra, Salam al-Fayyad, conveyed his congratulations to the Syndicate of Seafarers, and stressed the need to support the maritime sector and the marines because they are the backbone of the Iraqi economy by activating the role of unions and national companies and activating the national carrier.
