Lebanese President Michel Aoun arrived in Baghdad this morning, heading a ministerial and parliamentary delegation on an official visit during which he will meet with a number of officials.
“Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari received President Aoun at Baghdad airport,” said a statement by Foreign Minister Ibrahim Jaafari.
The Lebanese presidency announced in a statement that President Aoun is leaving Lebanon for Iraq on an official visit at the invitation of the President of the Republic Fuad Masum, and then on Wednesday will leave Baghdad to Yerevan, where he meets an invitation from his Armenian counterpart Serge Sarkisian for a two-day official visit.
“Aoun will hold talks in Iraq with President Fuad Masum, Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi, Speaker Salim al-Jubouri, the Syriani Catholic Diocese and the establishment of the unknown soldier,” the statement said.
