Baghdad - Iraqi Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari received a copy of the credentials of the new Dutch ambassador to Iraq, Matthias Voltres.
During the meeting, the Foreign Ministry said, "the relations between Baghdad and Amsterdam are reviewed, and ways of supporting them, which will enhance common interests and face common dangers between the two countries."
The minister expressed readiness of the Foreign Ministry to provide the necessary support to the diplomatic mission to increase the volume of cooperation in various fields, praising the positions of the Netherlands supporting Iraq in its war against terrorism and its contribution to the training of Iraqi forces.
"Iraq will begin the construction and reconstruction of Iraqi cities and looks forward to supporting friendly countries in the reconstruction of infrastructure and investment in many fields," Jaafari said during the meeting, calling for the opening of an air route between Baghdad and Amsterdam.
For his part, the Dutch ambassador congratulated Iraq on its victories in its war against the terrorist gangs.
