BAGHDAD - The spokesman of the Ministry of Oil Assem Jihad announced an expected visit of Saudi Energy Minister, Khalid al-Falih to Baghdad today.
"Saudi Energy Minister Khalid Al-Falih will arrive in Baghdad today to discuss the extension of the agreement of OPEC production cuts with his counterpart Jabbar al-Laibi," Jihad said in a statement to the National Iraq News Agency (NINA).
"The two sides will discuss strengthening bilateral relations and developments in the oil market as part of OPEC's latest decision," he added.
It is noteworthy that Prime Minister Haider Abadi announced earlier that Iraq supports the extension of the current agreement for oil production. "
Oil Minister Jabbar al-Laibi said that Iraq supports the extension for six months.
The OPEC member states meet in Vienna on May 25 to discuss extension of production cuts agreed last December between OPEC and 11 other countries, including Russia.
