BAGHDAD - Speaker of the House of Representatives Salim al-Jubouri discussed with Mohamed Ali al-Hakim, Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations Executive Director of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) the political and security situation in Iraq and the region and the battle of the liberation of Mosul and the situation of displaced people and international support for Iraq.
Al-Jubouri congratulated al-Hakim on his position as the executive director of a long-standing international organization, which is referring to Iraq's restoration of its leading role in international organizations.
The speaker confirmed that "Iraq is gradually recovering, and the next phase requires concerted efforts by all to bring it back to its real role in the region,".
For his part, the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, praised the role of Speaker of the House of Representatives and his contribution to the legislation of several laws that reflect positively on the lives of citizens.
