Baquba A security official in Diyala denied the circulating reports about Iranian visitors entering Khanaqin district by land to perform the Arbaeen visit ceremony.

Khanaqin Police Director Brigadier Diyar Shawkat told the correspondent of the National Iraqi News Agency (NINA) that a number of Iranian visitors entered by land through the Pervez Khan port in Sulaymaniyah and headed to Khanaqin. They were returned to the border by a security checkpoint in compliance with the decisions and agreements of the Iraqi government with the Iranian side to prevent entry to visitors from Iran via land routes.

Shawkat confirmed the commitment of the security forces to the orders of the higher security references to prevent the entry of any visitor by land. He denied recording any entry cases for Iranian visitors through Al-Mandhiriya border crossing with Iran.
