Kurdistan announces agreement with Baghdad to form a committee to address the region’s budget problem

Baghdad The Spokesman for the Kurdistan Regional Government, Jutiar Adel, announced today, Sunday, that the Kurdistan delegation that visited Baghdad agreed with the government side to form a committee to address the problem of the region’s share of the federal budget.

Adel said in a statement, that a delegation from the regional government visited today, the capital, Baghdad, noting that the delegation held a meeting with the delegation of the federal government regarding preparations for the drafting of the general budget law for the year 2023, and held intensive dialogues regarding the Kurdistan region’s share of it and the different opinions on it.

He added that the two sides agreed to form a committee between the two sides and start its work in this regard.

According to Adel, the delegation of the Kurdistan Regional Government expressed its willingness to solve all outstanding problems between Erbil and Baghdad through dialogue and negotiation on the basis of the constitution, including the problem of the Kurdistan region’s share of the budget.

The visit of the delegation of the regional government comes in conjunction with the conduct of the President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, today, Sunday, a one-day visit to Baghdad, for the purpose of completing the agenda of meetings last week with Iraqi political leaders, according to what was announced by a statement issued by the Presidency of the Region.
