Baghdad Lebanon extended its thanks and appreciation to the Iraqi government and people for their supportive stances and the support of the Lebanese people.
A Foreign Ministry statement said that Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein met today, Tuesday, Deputy Prime Minister and Lebanese Foreign Minister Zina Aker, on the sidelines of the consultative meeting of Arab foreign ministers hosted by the State of Qatar.
The two sides discussed various aspects of relations between the two countries, and ways to continue strengthening them in various fields.
They also discussed, regional issues of common interest, and developments in the region. They agreed to continue consultation and coordinate efforts to support political solutions that aim to enhancing security and stability in the region.
The minister praised the distinguished level reached by the relations between Baghdad and Beirut, stressing that Iraq was and still has appreciation for Lebanon and its brotherly people, and will remain supportive of its brothers in Lebanon.
During the meeting, the foreign minister pointed out the importance of convening the Iraqi-Lebanese joint committee to activate all common issues and files between the two countries.
For her part, the Lebanese Minister of Foreign Affairs directed her thanks and appreciation to the government and people of the Republic of Iraq for their positions in support of Lebanon and for providing support to the Lebanese people, adding that it expresses the strength of the brotherly relations between the two countries.
The meeting was attended, according to the statement, by Iraq’s ambassador to the State of Qatar Omar Al-Barzanji, head of the Arab department in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Osama Mahdi Ghanem, Counselor Ban Ali Kadhim, and the delegation accompanying the Lebanese Foreign Minister.
