Masrour Barzani discusses with the US Ambassador the importance of paving the way for free and fair elections in Iraq

Baghdad The PM of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani, discussed with US Ambassador Matthew Tueller the importance of paving the way for free and fair elections in a way that guarantees the rights and aspirations of the various Iraqi components.

A statement by the Kurdistan Regional Government stated that, Barzani received, today, Monday, the US Ambassador, in the presence of its consul in Erbil, Rob Waller, and they discussed the latest developments in Iraq and the Kurdistan region.

The importance of continuing reforms in the Ministry of Peshmerga, and the continued provision of support and assistance to these forces by the coalition forces to confront terrorism and maintain security and stability in the region, was also emphasized.

In another axis of the meeting, according to the statement, they discussed the conditions coincided with holding the upcoming Iraqi elections and the importance of paving the way for free and fair elections in a way that guarantees the rights and aspirations of the various Iraqi components.
