Baghdad Minister of Water Resources, Mahdi Rashid Al-Hamdani, announced that within less than two weeks, a lawsuit will be filed with the international community against Iran regarding water.
Al-Hamdani said in a televised statement: “Changing rivers courses constitutes forced displacement because it changes the geography and demography of the region.”
He added, “The Iranian side insists on speaking in accordance with the 1975 agreement on water, and this matter requires a political decision by the House of Representatives or the government,” noting that: “If Karun waters reached Basra from Iran, there would be no problem in the waters in the governorate.”
