MP Criticizes Parliamentary Meeting With The Govt Committee.. Confirms: Our Demand Is To Dismiss The Governor Of Dhi Qar And Restructure MoH

Baghdad The representative of / Saairun Alliance / Sabah Al-Saadi criticized the joint deliberative meeting of the parliament presidency with the governmental committee charged with investigating the fire incident of Al-Hussein Teaching Hospital in Dhi Qar Governorate.

Al-Saadi said, in a press conference, “We expected that parliament would hold its session today in the presence of most of its members in order to listen to the committee concerned with investigating the fire of Al-Hussein Teaching Hospital, but we were surprised by the transfer the hosting from inside the session to a joint meeting away from the media.”

He explained that: “The House of Representatives was supposed to take strict measures with the same force regarding the incident of the fire of the Ministry of Health building and the fire of Dhi Qar Governorate Hospital, but we found this matter far from reality.”

He added, “The House of Representatives would have to vote today to dismiss the governor of Dhi Qar as an essential first step in reforming the situation inside Dhi Qar, and the continuation of the situation in it cannot be accepted, because the governorate has its own privacy.”

Al-Saadi continued: “It would have been better for the Parliament presidency to have resorted to holding a public session in front of the media to discuss the situation and vote on the dismissal of the governor of Dhi Qar, in addition to addressing the prime minister with the need to use his constitutional and legal powers to dismiss the governor, given that the appointment was on his part.”

The representative of “Saairun” said that “waiting for investigative committees will lead to hold the responsibility on some of the junior employees, arresting them and holding them accountable, but the senior will leave, and after the fire of Ibn Al-Khatib Hospital, the catastrophe of Al-Hussein Hospital in Dhi Qar came, and we will witness the same situation in any governorate and the situation may flare up in other governorates because of the system of failure and corruption, and if this happened in any other country, the governor and health officials would have been dismissed and referred to the judiciary and not to retirement, because the retirement is a reward and accepting the resignation is a reward because what happened is damage and killing, if not premeditated, then it is an unintentional killing of citizens.

Al-Saadi stressed, “Our clear demand is the dismissal of the governor of Dhi Qar, the restructuring of the Ministry of Health, the accountability of negligent people and prevent them from travel, but waiting for the investigation committee’s procedures without taking urgent measures and a package of ready decisions, this situation weakens government institutions.”
