MP: There Is Procrastination And A Lack Of Response From Media And Communications Authority On The Issue Of Opening Corruption Files

Baghdad A member of the Parliamentary Media and Communications Committee, Alaa Al-Rubaie, confirmed that there was a delay and a lack of response from the Media and Communications Commission on the issue of opening corruption files.

Al-Rubaie said in a statement that the National Iraqi News Agency / NINA / received a copy of it: “Through the follow-up to the work progress in the Media and Communications Commission, we noticed that there has been neglect, non-response and procrastination by the Board of Commissioners to our demands to follow up on corruption files, after which the former director of the Commission was dismissed.”

Al-Rubaie called on the Council of Commissioners to “open the files of corruption and hold accountable the negligent people who caused the waste of public money, especially the fourth generation file and the extension of mobile phone companies and cover up the debts owed by them, and the universal service file, projects and money that are not subject to any supervision and follow-up.”

Al-Rubaie warned against proceeding with the referral of the billing project, on which many legal and technical violations were recorded, blaming the new executive body director that does not understand the simplest procedures in the management of the telecommunications sector.

He called for handing over the management of the authority to a professional and efficient person to advance the reality of this authority, which manages the most important files of progress and development in the country, noting that the authority’s management in this way will lead to economic disasters with unimaginable consequences for the near future of Iraq.
