Nechirvan Barzani and Nineveh Governor agree to resolve the situation in Sinjar within the framework of the agreement concluded between the regional and central governments

Baghdad The President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, and the Governor of Nineveh, Najm al-Jubouri, agreed on the need to resolve the situation in Sinjar within the framework of the agreement concluded between the regional government and the federal government.

A statement by the Kurdistan Region Presidency said that Barzani received, today, Saturday, the Governor of Nineveh, and during the meeting, they discussed the security, service and economic conditions in Nineveh, the reconstruction process, the ongoing preparations for the upcoming elections, and the relations of the Kurdistan Region with the province.

According to the statement, the two sides agreed on the need to resolve the situation in Sinjar within the framework of the agreement concluded between the Kurdistan Regional Government and the federal government.

Barzani expressed the Kurdistan Region’s support for the tasks and steps of the governor and the administration of Nineveh Governorate to achieve safety and stability, economic activities, humanitarian work and the reconstruction process, stressing that the region supports the return of the region’s displaced voluntarily and with a self-decision from them to Mosul and other Nineveh regions, after security and stability are established in their areas.

The statement indicated that the political situation, terrorist threats, and ISIS operations in the region, and a set of issues of common concern, formed another focus of the meeting.
