Othman Confirms Baghdad- Erbil Agreement Regarding Presence Of Security Forces In The Disputed Areas

Baghdad Kurdish leading figure, Mahmoud Othman confirmed Baghdad-Erbil agreement regarding the presence of security forces in the disputed areas.

Othman said in a statement to the National Iraqi News Agency (NINA): “The recent visit of National Security Adviser Qassem Al-Araji to Erbil and his meeting with the leaders of the region resulted in a new agreement on the presence of the combined forces of the federal government and the Peshmerga in the disputed areas.

Othman pointed out that there were previous agreements two years ago regarding the presence of these forces in the disputed areas that were not practically implemented, which led ISIS to exploit these areas to carry out its operations, expressing his hope that the last agreement would be practically applied and the combined forces of the federal forces and the Peshmerga would return to those areas to control them.
