Parliamentary Legal Commission: There Is No Official Request Yet To Postpone The Date Of The Next Elections

Baghdad The Parliamentary Legal Committee confirmed that there is no official request to postpone the date of the elections scheduled for next October.

Committee member MP Almas Fadel stated, in a statement to the National Iraqi News Agency / NINA /: “The talk about postponing the elections so far, are opinions and observations circulated by MPs and representatives of various political blocs, but it did not crystallize to submit any official request to postpone the elections from their scheduled date in October 10 next.

She added, “The House of Representatives will proceed with dissolving itself with the completion of the technical and logistical preparations for the upcoming elections in October, and this does not contradict the constitutional texts, because Parliament will dissolve itself automatically before the elections.”
