Parliamentary Meeting With The Security Committee Supervising The Elections

Baghdad The Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee discussed, in a meeting with the security committee supervising the elections, and a number of military and security leaders, the recent security breaches in Kirkuk governorate.

Committee member MP Bader Al-Ziyadi said, “The meeting discussed the issue of securing a safe atmosphere for the electoral process and protecting electoral centers and ballot boxes, in order not to repeat the 2018 elections scenario of burning ballot boxes and exposing the democratic process to collapse, in addition to emphasizing the need to protect candidates.”

He added, in a press statement, that “the Parliamentary Committee discussed with the military and security leaders the file of security violations that occurred recently in Kirkuk, which are repeated from time to time, which requires a real review of security plans and reconsideration and activation of intelligence work accurately and correctly.”
