PM follows up on the Independent High Electoral Commission’s preparations for the provincial elections

The Prime Minister, Muhammad Al-Sudani, chaired today Thursday a meeting that included the President and members of the Independent High Electoral Commission.

During the meeting, they discussed the commission’s preparations to hold provincial council elections at the specified time at the end of this year in accordance with the new law, within the framework of commitment to the government program to hold transparent and fair elections.

The meeting also witnessed a discussion of the obligations entailed in the new law, including the set date and audit centers, and the Commission’s need for logistical support to enable it to conduct contracts for the provision of electoral process requirements, such as ballot cards and others.

Al-Sudani affirmed the government’s support for the Commission’s work in preparing for the upcoming provincial elections and ensuring their success.

He indicated that: “All governors will be directed to provide support to the Commission, in a way that helps make this democratic process a success.”
