Political Researcher: The Elections Will Take Place On Time, And Recent Assassinations Have No Significant Effect On Postponing Them

Baghdad Political researcher Hani Ashour asserted that: The elections will take place on time … and the recent assassinations have no significant effect on postponing them.

He told the National Iraqi News Agency (NINA) that: The assassinations did not originally stop to return to the current period. Rather, they are delayed from time to time, and this means that those behind them are still present and able to deal with the events according to their vision without the government being able to reveal it.

Ashour added that: These assassinations will have a limited impact on the upcoming elections, since there is a security environment that the Iraqis lived through in the years 2006 and 2010 that was much greater than the bombings in all regions, nevertheless, the elections took place.

He explained: If the state is serious about holding the elections, it will be held on time. As for these violations, I do not think they will have a great significance in postponing them, and the government’s ability is the main factor in suppressing the escaped weapons and thus securing the election environment.
