President: A Stable And Able Iraq Represents A Factor Of Stability And A Center For Convergence Of Common Interests Of The Region

Baghdad The President of the Republic, Barham Salih, affirmed, “The able, secure, stable and sovereign Iraq, with its balanced relations with its Arab and Islamic surroundings, represents a factor of stability and a center for convergence of the common interests of the countries of the region.”

The Presidency of the Republic said in a statement that the National Iraqi News Agency / NINA / received a copy of it: “The Iranian Minister of National Security, Mahmoud Alawi, offered the Iranian leadership’s condolences to President Barham Salih and the Iraqi people for the tragedy of the fire of Al-Hussein Hospital (peace be upon him) in Dhi Qar.”

It added, “During the meeting, they discussed bilateral relations between the two neighboring countries, their importance to the two friendly peoples, and their development at various levels in order to serve the common interests of the two countries and the entire region.”

The President stressed the depth of the historical ties with the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the need to expand the horizons of bilateral cooperation between the two countries in all fields, noting: “A capable, secure, stable and sovereign Iraq, with its balanced relations with its Arab and Islamic surroundings, represents a factor of stability and a center for the convergence of the common interests of the countries of the region, and promotes regional peace and security,” he said, praising the positions of the Islamic Republic and its support for Iraq, especially in the field of combating terrorism and confronting ISIS gangs.

For his part, Mahmoud Alawi stressed the importance of the close relations that unite the two countries and peoples, the Iranian leadership’s support for the security and stability of Iraq, and the strengthening of bilateral cooperation and coordination in confronting terrorism and extremism and establishing peace in the region.
