Baghdad / NINA / – The President of the Republic, Barham Salih, said that we should not be afraid of admitting the existence of deficiencies in the political process.
Salih added at the Bahr al-Ulum Forum for Dialogue that “a strong state is not oppressive, but a servant of the people and able to impose the law.
He continued that the biggest violation of sovereignty is the violation of the will of the Iraqi voter, adding that ensuring a degree of integrity in the elections is the way to achieve change.”
He stressed, “it is our duty to work to ensure fair elections,” adding that reforming the political situation must be in the next parliament.
He explained, there is no solution for Iraq without the presence of a capable state that serves its people.
He explained that the volume of Iraq’s oil imports since 2003 is nearly a trillion dollars, adding that everyone looks at Iraq as a key point for determining regional balances.
He continued, “the project of Iraq must be patriotic at home, adding that sovereignty begins with respect for the citizen, his voice and his will.”
He stressed, “there must be a national dialogue to conduct the contexts of amending the constitution.”/ End
