Baghdad The President of the Republic, Barham Salih, received the US Ambassador to Iraq, Matthew Tueller.
The two sides discussed bilateral relations, the strategic dialogue and the technical committees emanating from it, the strengthening of joint action in facing the challenges of terrorism, and cooperation in issues of combating corruption, protecting the environment and confronting climate change.
A statement by the Presidency of the Republic stated that the two sides discussed the close bilateral relations, the various aspects of joint coordination between the two countries, and ways to develop prospects for cooperation in the context of the strategic dialogue, and the technical committees emanating from it, leading to a strategic partnership in various fields that serves mutual interests and respects Iraqi sovereignty.” It brings peace and benefit to the two peoples and the entire region.”
The statement added that the meeting also witnessed a discussion of enhancing joint action in facing the challenges of terrorism, and cooperation in issues of combating corruption, financing terrorism, protecting the environment and confronting climate change, in addition to the latest developments on the regional and international arenas of common interest, and the necessity of easing tensions was emphasized and rely on dialogue in resolving outstanding issues in order to establish peace in the region.”
