Rasool: Iraq Will Sign New Contracts With France To Arm The Army And Air Force

Baghdad Major General Yahia Rasool, the official spokesman for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, revealed Iraq’s intention to contract with France to equip and arm aircraft and Iraqi army formations.

Rasool said, in a statement to the National Iraqi News Agency “France is a superpower that participated in the fight against terrorism, and its role was clear through the air strikes of the international coalition on the hideouts of ISIS gangs, and the exchange of intelligence information with the Iraqi forces in the liberation operations.”

He added, “There have been many Iraqi visits to France during the last period, as well as Iraqi-French military coordination in the fields of training and armament. We are about to organize a series of new deals and contracts in the fields of air defense and equipping aircraft to complement the arming of the Iraqi army and air force.”
