Russia’s ambassador to Iraq Maxim Maximov said on Thursday that Moscow is ready to discuss the possibility of supplying Iraq with an S-400 anti-aircraft missile system, expressing hope that Baghdad would make such a request.

Moscow, in the framework of military-technical cooperation, has already handed over to the Iraqi government large amounts of military equipment, which has proved well in the battlefield against a terrorist organization in Iraq, Maximov said.

He added, “Iraq has also been supplied with Mi-35M, MI-28H and Su-25 fighter jets, as well as anti-tank missile systems-TE and other military products. “

He explained that “contacts with Baghdad continue in this area, and we hope to receive new requests from the Iraqi side to buy weapons, and this also applies to the missile system (S400).”
