Salih To Al-Sisi: The Iraqi-Egyptian Relations Are Historical And Strengthening Them Serves The Security And Stability Of The Whole Region

Baghdad The President of the Republic, Barham Salih, affirmed: “The stability of Iraq and ensuring its security and sovereignty are based on regional security,” noting: “The Baghdad Conference for Cooperation and Partnership represents an important step towards strengthening regional cooperation and easing tensions.”

During his meeting with President of the Arab Republic of Egypt Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Salih stressed that “the challenges of terrorism, extremism, fluctuations in economic conditions, health conditions, climate change and environmental protection are common challenges for all, and they are faced through joint efforts.”

President Barham Salih welcomed President Sisi, during a session of bilateral talks that dealt with the relationship between the two countries, stressing: “The Iraqi-Egyptian relations are in an important development, and are based on common historical relations shared by the two brotherly countries and peoples.”

He stressed the importance of enhancing the level of economic and trade coordination, strengthening the work of tripartite cooperation, which includes Jordan, benefiting from geographical contiguity, establishing infrastructure projects, energy transmission and laying oil pipelines.

The developments of the situation in the region of common interest were also discussed, as the views on the need for security and stability, defusing crises and overcoming the tensions that hamper the progress and prosperity of the region, which has long suffered from coincided problems,

President Barham Salih stressed that Iraq’s stability and ensuring its security and sovereignty are central to regional security, noting: “Egypt has an important pivotal role in the region, and the Baghdad Conference for Cooperation and Partnership represents an important step towards strengthening regional cooperation and easing tensions.”

For his part, President Sisi expressed his desire to visit Baghdad again, stressing the support of the Egyptian people and government to Iraq, praising the Iraqi efforts exerted in establishing security and stability in the region, stressing Egypt’s aspiration to develop relations between the two countries, and to enhance the tripartite Iraqi-Egyptian-Jordanian cooperation.
