Saudi Refuses Establishing Turkish Military Base On Its Territories

BAGHDAD - Saudi Arabia has refused to set up a Turkish military base on its territory.

"The kingdom cannot allow Turkey to build military bases on its territory," the official SPA quoted a Saudi official as saying.

"The kingdom does not need that and its armed forces and military capabilities are at their best," he said.

"The kingdom has significant participation abroad, including in Incirlik base in Turkey to combat terrorism and to protect security and stability in the region," the source added.

The Turkish army announced in a statement on June 13 that the agreement between Ankara and Doha on the establishment of a Turkish military base and the legal status of the Turkish armed forces in the Qatari territory, which allows the deployment of Turkish troops in Qatar permanently, entered into force on June 15 2015.
