TEHRAN- Iran has denied any role in bringing down the Israeli fighter jet and has denied sending a plane to northern Israel.

“The Iranian presence in Syria is advisory and at the request of the Syrian government,” the Iranian Foreign Ministry said in a press statement.

“The allegations that Iran is flying a plane and is behind the downing of the Israeli plane are laughable and do not deserve comment, it added.

“The Syrian army has the right to defend Syria against any foreign aggression,” it said, adding that “Israel cannot cover its aggression and crimes through fabricated lies.

An Israeli F-16 fighter jet crashed of Saturday after being fired from within Syria, the Israeli army said that they shot down an Iranian reconnaissance drone plane coming from Syria and stormed Israeli airspace over the Bisan area.
