The Civil Defense in Babylon announced today, Thursday, that a large fire engulfed commercial stores in Al-Mahaweel district, north of Hilla, and spread to a house adjacent to the store, without injuries.

Civil Defense Media Director Aqil Abdullah said, "The civil defense teams put out a fire that broke out in commercial stores in the Mahaweel district, north of Hilla, and spread to a house adjacent to the stores, and that the civil defense teams were able to save sums of money and gold jewelry and return them to the owner of the house."

He added that the police opened an investigation to find out the causes of the fire.
