The Community Police Stopped 6 Cases of Electronic Blackmail and 12 Cases of Domestic Violence Within 72 Hours

Baghdad The Ministry of Interior announced that the community police arrested 6 cases of electronic extortion and 12 cases of domestic violence within 72 hours.

The ministry said in a statement: “The community police detachments in the Relations and Information Department of the Ministry of Interior were able, within 72 hours, through separate operations, to stop (6) cases of electronic extortion of girls and women, and ( 12) cases of domestic violence against women and children, as well as two cases of men in the capital, Baghdad, and a number of other governorates of the country.

It added that the community police took the necessary measures against the extortionists and abusers, and secured the accounts of the victims of extortion, and deleted the content of extortion. It also provided moral and psychological support to victims of domestic violence, and pledged that its detachments would make periodic visits to their residences within the principle of aftercare to determine their conditions and provide them with the necessary support.

It pointed out that the extortion operations are caused by the misuse of smart phones, and the victims’ dependence on existing relationships through social networking sites and cyberspace.
