Baghdad The Egyptian ambassador to Iraq, Walid Ismail, confirmed that the projects of the housing and electricity sectors have priority with the interest of Egyptian companies to work in Iraq.
Ismail said, in a statement to the National Iraqi News Agency (NINA), that “we seek to implement 3 new housing projects in Iraq, as well as other projects in the fields of roads and electricity by Egyptian government companies.”
He added, “The joint electrical connection project between Egypt, Iraq and Jordan has not yet seen the light, as the connection between Iraq and Jordan is currently underway, and then 10,000 megawatts will be supplied from Egypt to Iraq through the joint tripartite connection.”
On the procedures for granting Iraqi visas to Egyptian citizens, the Egyptian ambassador said that they are “very difficult procedures, and this matter is related to technical and administrative procedures specific to the circumstances of each country,” noting that “the Iraqi citizen coming to Egypt does not face obstacles currently, because he is fully aware of the language and locations of housing, roaming and food.” “.
Regarding tourism cooperation between the two countries, he explained that “the tourism sector in the region in general has been affected by the Coronavirus pandemic,” noting that “Egypt is ready to receive tourists, and new agreements for tourism and aviation companies will be announced soon, after the number of flights reached 14 flights a week earlier. “.
And regarding the projects of industrial cities and free zones between Iraq, Egypt and Jordan, the Egyptian ambassador confirmed that “some complex routine procedures led to the disruption of work, but the project is still in place and we seek to complete it as soon as possible.
