The Foreign Minister discusses with the Russian Ambassador strengthening bilateral relations and the Russian-Ukrainian war

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fouad Hussein, received today, Thursday, the Russian Ambassador to Iraq, Elbrus Kotrashev.

During the meeting, according to a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, they discussed bilateral relations and ways to enhance prospects for cooperation in all fields in a way that serves the mutual interests of the two peoples and the two countries.

They also discussed developments in the region of common interest, stressing the importance of easing tensions and relying on dialogue in resolving outstanding issues in order to establish peace in the region.

The Minister stressed the importance of reaching understandings and settlements on the issue of the Russian-Ukrainian war and avoiding its continuation because its repercussions affect global security in general and food and energy security in particular.

They also discussed the file of Iraqi immigrants and refugees on the Polish-Belarusian border, and the minister confirmed that the Iraqi government had taken actual steps to return citizens wishing to return to Iraq.
