The Foreign Minister stresses during his meeting with his British counterpart the need to activate the Iraqi-British relations at various levels

Baghdad The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fouad Hussein, stressed the need to activate the Iraqi-British relations at various levels, including economic and financial.

The Foreign Ministry said in a statement: “Fouad met his British counterpart, James Cleverly, on the sidelines of the 18th Manama Dialogue, which is taking place in the Bahraini capital, Manama.”

It added, “During the meeting, they also discussed ways to improve bilateral relations between the two countries, and the importance of consultation on issues of common concern.”

The two Ministers also discussed Iraq’s pioneering role in the region and its efforts in combating terrorism, and stressed the importance of continuing efforts to combat terrorist organizations because they poses a threat to security and stability in Iraq and the region.

The Minister called on British investment companies to invest in Iraq, praising the financial stability that our country is going through at the present time, and discussing the status of investment companies in Basra.

For his part, the British Foreign Minister affirmed the British government’s commitment to continue supporting the Iraqi government in the economic, security, combating terrorism, renewable energy, investment and combating the effects of climate change, expressing his government’s desire to raise the pace of bilateral relations between the two countries and develop them in a way that serves common interests.
