The Governor of Kirkuk discusses with a UN delegation efforts to support stability in the governorate

Kirkuk The Governor of Kirkuk, Rakan Saeed Al-Jubouri, discussed with Director of the (UNHCR) Program in Iraq, Filda Candler, efforts to support stability and provide services to the displaced people.

During the meeting, the Governor praised the efforts of the UNAMI mission in Iraq in supporting stability and the safe return of the displaced people, stressing the keenness of the Kirkuk administration to overcome obstacles and facilitate the movement and work of international organizations in cooperation with the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers.

He said that the administration of Kirkuk is restricted in light of the budget instructions to secure infrastructure such as water, electricity and roads, but we find it difficult to build destroyed houses and villages, where we have 138 destroyed villages and districts. He called for supporting the agricultural sector in the liberated areas because of its importance in supporting stability efforts and securing job opportunities for returnees.

Candler indicated that her work in the liberated areas, including Kirkuk, is continuing to find permanent solutions for the displaced people, focusing on the success of issuing identification documents for the displaced and supporting the departments concerned with issuing the national card in Hawija district and a number of liberated aspects and its importance to serve the returning citizen and reduce his burdens.
