The International Coalition assures Masrour Barzani of its commitment to continue supporting the Kurdistan Region

Baghdad The Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the International Coalition Forces in Iraq and Syria, General Andrew Garner, affirmed to the PM of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani, the Alliance’s commitment to continue supporting the Kurdistan Region, while the Prime Minister of the Regional Government highlighted developments in the reform process and the unification of the Peshmerga forces.

According to a statement issued by the Kurdistan Regional Government, the PM of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani, received today, Sunday, the Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the International Coalition Forces in Iraq and Syria, General Andrew Garner.

The meeting discussed the latest developments in Iraq and the region, addressing the threats posed by ISIS terrorists, in addition to discussing the importance of protecting the sovereignty, security and stability of Iraq and the Kurdistan region.

For his part, Garner briefly presented the mission and activities of the International Coalition forces in both Iraq and Syria, and renewed the commitment of the international coalition to continue supporting the Kurdistan region, according to the statement.

In another part of the meeting, the urgent need to solve the problems between the Kurdistan region and the federal government according to the constitution, and to strengthen security and military coordination between the Peshmerga forces and the Iraqi army, were discussed.
