Baghdad The Jordan Football Association announced the appointment of Iraqi coach Adnan Hamad as technical director of the first football team, after accepting the resignation of Vital Borkelmans and his assistant Vander Heiden.

The Jordanian Football Association decided to accept the resignation of Vital Borkelmans and his assistant Stefan Vander Heiden, following the unsatisfactory results provided by the team in the World Cup qualifiers.

The Jordanian Football Association issued a statement saying: Based on the modest performance and results of the first national team participated in the joint qualifiers that did not live up to expectations, , the Executive Board of the Football Association met today, Wednesday, June 16, headed by His Highness Prince Ali bin Al-Hussein, and decided to accept the resignation of the coach of the first national team, Vital Borkelmans, and his assistant, Stefan Vander Heiden.

The appointment of coach Adnan Hamad as technical director of the first national team, to lead the next stage, starting with the national team match against South Sudan in Doha on the 21st of this month, as part of the qualifiers for the 2021 Arab Cup.

The Jordanian national team left the Asian double qualifiers for the 2022 FIFA World Cup and the 2023 Asian Cup, with a 1-0 loss against Australia, in Group B in Kuwait on Tuesday.
