Baghdad The Iraqi Observatory for Journalistic Freedoms of the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate called on Mayor of Baghdad Alaa Maan to withdraw the case he had filed against Yasser Amer, presenter of Al-Rasheed satellite channel, claiming defamation and damage.
The observatory stated in a statement: The mayor of Baghdad demanded a quarter of a billion dinars in compensation for the moral damage caused to him by a program presenter, and we call on the judges not to ignore the directives of the distinguished head of the Supreme Judicial Council, which states that the journalist should be informed of the lawsuit filed against him through the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate, which has not yet been implemented.
The Observatory called on the Mayor of Baghdad to withdraw the case he filed against Yasser Amer, presenter of Al-Rasheed satellite channel, claiming defamation and moral damage caused by Amer to Satellite channels receive miserable salaries, and they do not have the ability to support their families, so how can they compensate an Iraqi official with this amount of money!
The Mayor of Baghdad had filed a lawsuit against the presenter of Al-Rasheed satellite channel, Yasser Amer, before the Rusafa Court of First Instance, demanding a financial compensation of a quarter of a billion Iraqi dinars, and bearing the costs of the lawsuit and the lawyer’s fees, where the court informed him to appear before it, or a lawyer to represent him, on the sixth of this February .
