Hosh al-Sayyid Ali: The Lebanese Army entered the border town of Hosh al-Sayyid Ali with Syria on Wednesday, following the withdrawal of Syrian forces.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the army’s entrance into the town comes after recent violent clashes. Reports indicate that the Lebanese Army convoy included 60 vehicles. The clashes erupted after the killing of three individuals, whom the Syrian Ministry of Defense identified as “Syrian army soldiers.” The Ministry accused Hezbollah of involvement in the killings, a claim that Hezbollah has strongly denied.
Lebanese Defense Minister Michel Manassa confirmed that the deceased were three Syrian smugglers and stated that their bodies were handed over to Syrian authorities. Manassa urged for increased cooperation to prevent unexpected security incidents in the future.
The army’s entry into Hosh al-Sayyid Ali follows an agreement between Lebanese and Syrian intelligence agencies. This agreement was reached after a discussion between Manassa and his Syrian counterpart, Marhaf Abu Qasra, which led to a ceasefire and the withdrawal of militants from both sides.
