The Minister of Agriculture Directs The Import Of Yellow Corn And Fodder Barley Crops

Baghdad The Minister of Agriculture, Muhammad Karim Al-Khafaji, directed to import the yellow corn and fodder barley crops, attributing the reason to the local need.

The official spokesman for the ministry, Hamid Al-Nayef, said in a statement that “Minister Muhammad Karim Al-Khafaji directed to allow the import of fodder crops such as yellow corn, fodder barley and bran in all quantities and from all outlets,” attributing “this to the lack of local production.”

He added that “this decision came in support of livestock producers and the provision of fodder ration,” noting that “the current year was a dry year, which caused a lack of natural pastures in addition to the lack of fodder materials, which is the reason for its high prices.”

Al-Nayef stressed the need for “all imported materials to be accompanied by a health certificate from the Department of Livestock Resources,” stressing “the ministry’s endeavor to increase the areas prepared for feed within its agricultural plans.
