Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Nabil Kadhem Abdel-Saheb, received the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Walid Muhammad Ismail, and they discussed the results of agreements between the two countries in the field of university education and scientific and academic coordination.
According to a statement by the Ministry, the two sides discussed a number of cooperation files, including facilitating entry and residence visa procedures for Iraqi students, scholarships provided by Egyptian universities, reducing study fees, and the twinning project between Baghdad and Cairo universities.
The Minister of Education reiterated Iraq’s keenness to develop scientific and cultural exchange between the two countries and develop prospects for joint work in light of the agreed cooperation programmes, stressing the necessity of opening an Iraqi cultural attaché in Cairo to follow up student affairs and facilitate university admission procedures.
He stressed the readiness of Iraqi universities to offer scholarships to Egyptian students and to promote joint scientific research paths among university professors.
For his part, the Ambassador expressed his thanks and appreciation for the interest provided by the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and its institutions, and its keenness to supplement the joint academic work space between the two countries with everything that serves the two brotherly peoples
