Baghdad Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein affirmed Iraq’s position in support of diplomatic efforts to find solutions and return to the negotiating table between the parties to the nuclear agreement.
The Foreign Ministry said in a statement: “Minister Fouad Hussein met the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi, at the Agency’s headquarters in Vienna, and during the meeting, they discussed and exchanged views on national issues related to the agency’s work within the framework of the legitimate right of countries to obtain on nuclear technology for peaceful purposes in all fields that serve its development programs, support its economies and diversify its energy sources, provided that it is under the supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency, in addition to continuing constructive cooperation between Iraq and the agency on current issues and opening new horizons for future cooperation.
It added, “The latest developments in regional issues of international concern, including the joint comprehensive action plan, were discussed, in light of international efforts to revive the nuclear agreement, with emphasis on Iraq’s position in support of diplomatic efforts to find solutions and return to the negotiating table between the states parties to the agreement, for what it has positive repercussions on the international community in general and the Middle East in particular.”
