The Minister of Foreign Affairs Receives A Copy Of The Credentials Of The New Italian Ambassador To

Baghdad Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein received today, Wednesday, a copy of the credentials of Maurizio Cricante, the new Italian ambassador to Iraq, and they discussed relations between the two countries and ways to advance them to meet the aspirations of both peoples.

The Minister affirmed, according to a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, his support for the efforts of the new ambassador to strengthen relations between Baghdad and Rome, and to develop bilateral cooperation to achieve common interests.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed the issue of the nuclear agreement between Iran and the international parties in Vienna, and stressed: “Any progress in this file will positively affect the regional situation and Iraq as well.”

The Minister wished the Ambassador success in his work, expressing the readiness of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to provide all facilities to the diplomatic mission.

For his part, the Italian ambassador affirmed his government’s support for Iraq, praising the recent electoral process that took place on 10th October, wishing Iraq to form an elected government that represents the aspirations of the Iraqi people.

During the meeting, the ambassador appreciated Iraq’s role in establishing security and stability in the Middle East and bringing the opponents closer together, and this role crystallized in holding the Baghdad Conference for Cooperation and Partnership, and Iraq’s role as well in fighting terrorism and confronting the security challenges posed by the remnants of the terrorist organization ISIS, stressing that Italy will preside over the NATO mission in Iraq in May 2022.
