The Minister of Interior confirms from Basra the importance of controlling borders with neighboring countries to reduce the phenomenon of drug spread

Basra Minister of Interior Othman Al-Ghanimi stressed on controlling the borders with neighboring countries to curb the drug phenomenon, which has become a threat to the social fabric.

During his visit, the Minister stressed the leadership of the Fourth Region Border Forces and his meeting with Major General Khalaf Al-Badran today, Wednesday, “on activating the intelligence role, exploiting the land and fortifying the pathways to control the drug scourge.”

He called for the provision of a large security force capable of controlling the borders and fortifying them with setting ambushes in order to be able to impose their control on smugglers and the entry of drugs into the province. He praised the role of the Border Command for its active role in seizing a number of drug dealers and seizing quantities of narcotics.

The Minister of Interior had arrived in Basra province this morning, Wednesday, and held a security meeting in the province, in the presence of the Chairman of the Supreme Security Committee, Governor Asaad Al-Eidani, Deputy Commander of Joint Operations Lieutenant-General Abdul Amir Al-Shamri, and Basra Operations Commander Major General Ali Al-Majidi, Lieutenant-General Imad Al-Dulaimi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for Police Affairs and Basra Police Commander Major General Abbas Naji.
