The Minister of Transport, Razzaq Muhibis Al-Saadawi, arrived today, Sunday, in Jeddah, in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to attend the activities of the Maritime Industry Sustainability Conference.
A statement by the Ministry’s media office said that Al-Saadawi arrived at Jeddah International Airport at the head of a ministerial delegation, to attend the activities of the Maritime Industry Sustainability Conference (SMIC), and was received by the Undersecretary of the Minister of Transport and Logistics in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The statement added that Iraq’s participation in this conference aims to highlight Iraq’s role in the maritime sector, and reflects the minister’s interest in developing and improving the work environment in the Iraqi maritime sector.
It continued, that the activities of the conference, which is being held under the auspices of the Minister of Transport and Logistics Services, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Public Authority for Transport, Eng. Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser, will last for two days during the period from 4-6 September 2023 in Jeddah, and in the presence of the Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), and a number of Ministers, Ambassadors and Permanent Representatives members of the organization, and maritime experts, from 70 countries, to discuss sustainability in the maritime industry, and the impact of the industry on the environment.
The statement indicated that the conference will witness the participation of more than 50 speakers from experts in the maritime sector, in more than 10 workshops, and 2,000 exhibitors to cover more than 50 accompanying exhibitions, to discuss and discuss modern technologies and build human capacities, and present initiatives to protect the marine environment.
