The Minister of Transport discusses with the Ambassador of the EU lifting European ban on Iraqi Airways in European airspace

Baghdad Minister of Transport Nasser Hussein Bandar Al-Shibli discussed with the Ambassador of the European Union Mission to Iraq and his accompanying delegation the lifting of the European ban on Iraqi planes in European airspace.

The media of the Ministry of Transport stated, in a statement, that “during the meeting, which was attended by the Director General of the General Company for Iraqi Airways, the Director of Aviation Operations in the company, the Director of the Technical Department, in addition to the Director of the Air Safety Department in the Civil Aviation Authority, the possibility of lifting the restrictions imposed on the green bird (Iraqi Airways) and the importance of passing Iraqi Civil Aviation Authority ICAO audit.

In turn, “the ambassador of the European Union mission to Iraq stressed the need to expedite the implementation of the procedures for lifting the ban on the national carrier in European airspace,” praising the efforts made and the tireless endeavors of the Ministry of Transport in overcoming obstacles and solving problems in front of this sensitive file to restore confidence in European countries and the whole world with the technology and development of Iraqi air ways”.

He added, “This meeting came as a complement to the series of ongoing discussions and meetings between the two sides to resolve the crisis of this file, the last of which was the virtual meeting held on 12/14/2021, which was held between Iraqi Air ways and IATA on one side and representatives of the European Union on the other hand, and the positive results achieved in it.
